DNC Wizard
lets you quickly find out your CNC protocols and end-of-block
sequences. One of the major problems setting up your CNC is
that you may not know your CNC settings. Often it's quite easy
to go into your CNC parameter table and see what the baudrate,
parity and other settings are, but then again, as often as not,
they are just a sequence of cryptic bit settings making life
very difficult. |

| The
DNC Wizard lets
you quickly find out your CNC protocols and end-of-block sequences
by sending a file out of your CNC back to the wizard. The wizard
then reads and analyzes the data and works out what your CNC
settings are. |

Wizard Step 1 - Open up the wizard and select a CNC from
the drop down list. |

Wizard Step 2 - Select a com port on your computer. It will
only show com ports that are detected on your computer. |

Wizard Step 3 - Take a first guess at the range you think
the CNC is in. Most are within the average range. This just
saves time detecting the cnc data. Select 7 data bits as this
is by far the most typical, you can always try 8 data bits if
nothing is detected correctly. |

Wizard Step 4 - Punch a program out of the CNC back to the
computer. At first you may see garbage data, but quickly the
wizard will detect the correct settings. Choose the biggest
file you have in cnc memory. |

Wizard Step 5 - After the wizard has detected the settings,
and enough data has been processed, the wizard will stop and
present you with the settings and the end of block settings.
You then have the option to save these settings away. |

| The
wizard will work with most com ports although it is far more
reliable with proper com
ports. By proper ports we mean those hardware ports that sit
inside your computer or laptop PCMCIA or laptop Express cards.
Quite often USB devices may not work, this is unfortunatley
the way these USB to RS232 devices are designed and work (or
don't work in many cases). |
